The theme of this exhibition is the
artistic and intellectual world of the mandarins of the 17th and
18th centuries.
Their duties were often onerous, and therefore they frequently
tried to escape in time and space by travelling and by collecting
works from a past shrouded in nostalgia.
This escape also took the form of what we have called "dreams". Art
and friendship; love; nature and freedom – these were the three
dreams that Chinese mandarins indulged in from the enclosed space
of their offices…
